There was a day when I decided not to be sad anymore. It wasn’t a big, dramatic moment—it sort of just hit me. I wanted to be okay. I was tired of sulking in my feelings, and I realized that something had to change.

There was a day when I chose not to be sad anymore. Not because I necessarily wanted to, but because I had to. I know that’s easier said than done, and what worked for me may not work for you, but I want to share a beautiful, bizarre, and honestly kind of gross analogy with you.

So one day, as I was scrolling on TikTok (of course), I stumbled upon a video of a giraffe giving birth. Now, mind you, when I post a bikini TikTok, it gets taken down, but somehow this stays up—but I digress. There was something about that video that really stood out to me.

Did you know giraffes give birth standing up? When their babies enter the world, they literally take a 2-meter drop, fresh out of the womb, and the first thing they have to do is stand up on their own. No help from mom, no support from anyone. They have to get up by themselves.

And I thought, wow, isn’t that the tough reality we humans have to face sometimes? We can be surrounded by family and friends, but at the end of the day, it’s up to us to get up on our own.

So on the day I decided not to be sad anymore, I took that drop. I had to pick myself back up and stand on my own two feet. And even though it was scary, I dusted myself off and got up.And honey, that’s part of the magic. There’s power in knowing that, no matter how far you fall, you can get back up. You can stand tall—just like that giraffe—because the strength to rise has always been inside of you.
