Five Ways To Live in The Moment

We so often hear the phrase, “Live in the moment,” but never really talk about how to do this. Of course, this phrase means something different to all of us, but what steps can we take?

Since college, I’ve been trying to soak up every little thing. I feel like I have been genuinely LIVING IN THE MOMENT. Here are my top five tips that have helped me.

1. EXPRESS GRATITUDE! Gratitude is the best attitude, after all! Take time to tell your loved ones and friends how thankful you are for them. Not only does it make you feel special, but it makes them feel special as well. 

2. AVOID TECHNOLOGY! Your phone will always be there. Your loved ones may not. If you are talking to someone, you haven’t spoken to in a while, keep your nose out of your phone, LISTEN, and soak in every little thing. These moments don’t last forever.

 3. LET GO OF THE PAST! I know it sounds so cliche, but the past is in the past, and there is nothing that you can do about it. The only thing you can do is move on. Don’t let a bad yesterday ruin a good today. 

4. EMBRACE YOUR SURROUNDINGS! Look around at your environment. Who are you with? What’s the weather like outside? Everything goes by so fast, so soak up every little thing. 

5. DON’T THINK ABOUT IT TOO MUCH! Seriously! Our mind is so powerful that sometimes it can seriously mess us up. Embrace the things you don’t know. Let your mind be at ease and relax in the present.
